Presentation of the Itinerary

This Nature Trail, leaving from Cicogna and leading to Alpe Leciuri, goes along a route allowing visitors to discover and appreciate the history of lower Val Grande.
Step by step you will rediscover traces of the millenary presence of man, dry-stone walls and centuries-old chestnut trees, mysterious stone carvings and old pre-Christian rites.
From the broad-leaved woods surrounding Cicogna, you will go uphill to the abandoned pasturelands of Alpe Prà, which is also known for a mountain hut - called “Casa dell’Alpino” and belonging to Associazione Nazionale Alpini; this mountain hut is occasionally open.
This is one of the most charming access points to the mountains and summer pastures of Val Grande and Val Pogallo, with charming itineraries of different difficulty levels.
Along the route, eight panels and four reading-desks describe some of the features of the territory through images and short texts. Twenty numbered trail markers alternating with the panels mark as many observation points.
