Presentation of the Itinerary

This Nature Trails leaves from Ompio basin and leads to the summit of Mt. Faiè, along a route allowing visitors to discover and appreciate the nature and history of this territory. Mt. Faiè, which is characterized by a vast and shadowy beech wood, is one of the most panoramic and charming points in the whole valley.
The departure point of the path is by the “Fantoli” mountain hut, 15 minutes far from where you will leave your car. The mountain hut, belonging to the CAI section of Pallanza, was built in 1949 on the remains of an old hut that was destroyed during World War II, and then it was enlarged in 1953 and 1983. It is open in summer. Alpe Ompio is one of the easiest access points to the mountains and summer pastures of lower Val Grande, with charming itineraries of different difficulty levels.
Along the route, nine panels present some of the features of the territory through images and short texts. Twenty numbered trail markers alternating with the panels mark as many observation points, whose peculiarities are described in the guidebook dedicated to this Nature Trail.
