The Park by Bike

The Val Grande National Park could be discovered not only on foot but, in some neighbouring areas, even by bike.
The rental service of mountain bikes and pedal assisted bikes is offered in three municipalities of the Park, namely:
  • Trontano
  • Rovegro (part of the municipality of San Bernardino Verbano)
  • Aurano
Here below there is the table about the paths' degree of difficulty:

Degree of difficulty Description
TC Tourist: path on unpaved roads with a compact and sliding bottom, of carriage type.
MC For cycle excursionists with medium technical capacity: path on unpaved roads with a little disjointed or slightly irregular ground or on paths with a compact and smooth bottom.
BC For cycle excursionists with good technical skills: path on very disjointed unpaved roads or on mule tracks and paths with a rather disjointed but smooth bottom or with a compact but irregular bottom, due to some natural obstacles (for example rock steps or roots).
OC For cycle excursionists with excellent technical skills: as above but on very disjointed and / or very uneven bottoms, with significant presence of obstacles.
EC Maximum level for cycle excursionists: path on very irregular bottoms, characterized by steps and obstacles in succession, requiring trial-type techniques.

By "disjointed" we mean an uncompact bottom with debris; an uneven ground marked by grooves, steps and / or depressions is considered to be "irregular".
The "+" sign could be added to the abbreviations if there are significant sections with slopes. The abbreviation is determined according to the path average: single and short sections are not considered. Possible non-cycle sections do not contribute to the definition of the difficulty.
