Cicogna - Alpe Prà - Pogallo
A journey between history and nature
Saturday 26 August 2023 from 09:00 to 17:00Excursion in the "heart" of the National Park to discover famous engravings, an abandoned lumberjack village and the turquoise Pogallo torrent.
Our way begins in the isolated small village of Cicogna and climb up to the terrace of alpe Prà. From there we will enjoy fantastic views of the wild Val Grande as well as the Lake Maggiore. Then we will enter into the dark forests of the National Park and reach the beautiful terrace of Pogallo with its tipical little stone-huts. Decades ago it was the center of the wood industry, a lively village, but today the silence reigns here.
After our lunch-break we'll follow an old muletrack through a steep gorge with waterfalls and pools and we will arrive to Cicogna in the late afternoon.
